| About the Author: The Reverend James F. Lupton was born in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania in 1933. He was raised in the rural community of Oxford, Pennsylvania and graduated from Oxford High School in June 1951. Following High School graduation, Rev. Lupton enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he rose to the rank of sergeant. After completing his military service obligation he attended Fairmont State College in West Virginia to begin preparation for the ministry; and entered Union Theological Seminary in New York in June 1960. Rev. Lupton began his ministry in 1963 as an ordained Presbyterian minister in the Union Presbyterian Church in Newburgh, New York and served there for four years as Pastor. In 1967 he accepted a commission to serve in the U.S. Army as a chaplain in Vietnam. He served in Vietnam during some of the most difficult years of that war. Following Vietnam he left the service and came to Vermont to serve churches in the towns of Bethel, South Royalton, Tunbridge and Randolph. He has been Pastor of the United Church of Randolph for more than fifteen years. Beginning in 1979, Rev. Lupton had a series of religious encounters with Jesus through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit which dramatically altered his 20+ years of ministry. Indeed his testimony is one of a life dramatically transformed by God after 20 years of Pastoral Ministry! He was "Born Again" on October 29th, 1982 at the St. Paul's Episcopal Center in Darien, Connecticut. Rev. Lupton has been active as a Spiritual Director for several Tres Dias teams; he has served on teams for Life In The Spirit Seminars; he is advisor for Women's Aglow; and he has lead many other seminars presenting teachings about the Holy Spirit and sharing a ministry of Healing. |
